Happy Bloggiversary! Today is my 3rd Blog Anniversary and the first on at the new blog location. Who (besides my mother) knew I had this much to say? Thank you, sweet readers, for sticking with me and hopefully we’re learning and getting better prepared together. Just for fun, here are a few of my favorite posts from the last 3 years:

Emergency Broadcast. Well, yesterday was the first national emergency broadcast. Did you hear it? We were actually in the car and it was pretty garbled. I’m relatively certain there were subliminal messages going on in the background. ;) Or maybe they were just playing two things at the same time. At any rate, it needs some work if they’re actually planning on using it for emergencies.
Earthquake! Seriously. There was a 4.1 earthquake about 15 ish miles from us last night. Funny thing is we were all at the table at the time and I didn’t feel anything (managing the crazy kids must have been keeping me shaking enough as it was), but sweet husband said later that he thought there might have been one but wasn’t sure that that’s what it was so he dismissed it as nothing. Maybe we just need more practice feeling earthquakes so we’ll know when there is one. Is there anywhere you can go for an earthquake simulator so we’ll recognize when one’s happening next time?
And last but definitely not least–Happy Birthday Marines! Today is the 236th birthday of the United States Marine Corps! I can’t say thank you enough to you Marines for your service. Absolutely awe inspiring. So here’s a birthday message worth watching to celebrate the Marine Corps birthday. It’s a great day to make cupcakes for the kids and explain whose birthday you’re celebrating!
Keep preparing! Angela

The Oregon Museum of Science and Industry (OMSI) has an earthquake simulator but I’ve been in it, and in several different actual quakes, and the simulator just feels like someone’s shaking you back & forth sideways. Most of the earthquakes I’ve been through felt like the ground was rolling, or like the wobbly stomach-dropping feeling you get when you’re sliding unexpectedly on an icy surface.
But they’re not all that dramatic. One earthquake I experienced in 2006, I described on my blog as follows:

LOL…I can imagine with a couple of kids kicking around at the table, even at their best and your juggling things, an earthquake that did not bring the ceiling down would not be noticed. I will have to read all those links later, as I am beat.
