Since I started posting videos on YouTube a couple of years ago, the video views and subscribers has continued to grow (as has the video quality, thankfully). I love the comments from those who have tried what I’ve demonstrated and had success as well as those with great ideas and input. And I always get a good laugh at the proposals. No, I will not marry you, I’m already happily married, thank you very much. And you can’t have my dog, either.
Videos are a great way to share information that is tough to explain without seeing it, and I love doing them (especially on good hair days!). So just for fun, here are my all time top 10 YouTube videos, ranked by number of views:
10. Kelly Kettle Biomass Stove Review. I can’t even tell you how much I love this stove and this video shows why. How fast can you boil water? Pretty stinking fast in a Kelly Kettle.
9. Burning Snack Chips as Fire Tinder. If you’re lost in the woods with just your lunch, would you rather have Cheetos, potato chips, or Doritos with you? Find out which burns longer and stronger.
8. Diva Cup Menstrual Cup Review for Preparedness. Yes, nothing like chatting about feminine hygiene. ;)
7. Henry AR-7 US Survival Rifle. What a fun little gun! Plus we gave it away. I’ve had quite a few watchers of this one disappointed that they missed the giveaway. We’ll have to do another one sometime.
6. How to Cut and Seal Mylar Bags. Mylar is one of the easiest ways to package food for long term storage and this video shows just how easy it is to cut and seal Mylar bags.
5. Activating a Reusable Hand Warmer. One of my first videos. Under a minute long and I don’t even talk (which my husband will verify doesn’t happen very often), but these little things are so fascinating to watch!
4. How to Install a Gamma Seal Lid the EASY Way. I love the comments on this video and viewership is evenly split between men and women, which just goes to show you that even the men are frustrated by the rubber mallet installation method!
3. Practically Free Mylar Bags. Because who doesn’t like stuff for free?
2. What is a Gamma Seal Lid?. Don’t watch this unless you’re prepared to buy one. Because you will want one. Or two. Or a whole stack of them.
1. How to Start a Fire with a Magnifying Glass. In which I actually get a fire going with two different types of magnifying glasses plus my secret fire weapon and some magic dust from my dog. It might not work as well for you without the dog. ;)
I hope you’ve enjoyed this little foray into my YouTube life. I will say that trying to record videos with small children around is it’s own kind of adventure (and the reason I don’t do videos more often!). I’ve got some great things planned in the video department in the coming months, so be sure to subscribe to my channel so you’ll get updates when I post something new!
Keep preparing! Angela
