September is National Preparedness Month and to celebrate and help raise your preparedness level, I’ve got some great contests and giveaways lined up this month. I have super blog sponsors and friends in the preparedness community helping with the prizes this month, so when you see a link over to a sponsor’s site, head on over and give them a visit to help say thanks!
We’re going to jump right in and start things off with a great giveaway. I’ve got two prizes on this one, which means two winners!
First is a $50 gift card from Freeze Dry Guy to spend on anything you want there. Sweet.
And second, two dozen wide mouth and two dozen regular reusable canning lids from Tattler lids. That’s a total of 4 dozen reusable lids. I use these all the time and they are fantastic!
You can earn entries in this giveaway by answering a question about preparedness, liking my page on Facebook, subscribing to my feed via a feedreader or email, and sharing the giveaway through your favorite social media.
This giveaway will end this Sunday morning 9/8/12 at 12:01 am EST. You are welcome to comment on this post, but to enter the giveaway please use the form! Good luck!
Keep preparing! Angela

Pressure Canning!
I am going to attempt pressure canning and need all the help I can get!
Food storage and organization.
I’ve been meaning to try tattler lids. I am in the midst of canning pickles this week.
I need help with alternative power. We don’t get enough wind for a turbine and I don’t htink we get enough sun for solar to be worthwhile.
Canning… everything. I bought the basics to start canning fruits sometime last spring, and its still sitting in my closet waiting to be opened!
Fongers crossed!
This is awesome!
We’ve been canning but are going to be doing a lot more. We are also going to start our first Fall Garden!! :)
One of my many goals for the New Year 2012 was to learn to pressure can meat. I have been dying to try the Tattler lids and just haven’t had the extra funds…We have game meat coming in, so now’s the time to take the plunge!
Water purification
I need to learn more about gardening in less-than-optimum soil conditions!
I need to do a better job at rotating our food storage. It is discouraging to pull something off the shelf and see that it is quite old. I feel like such a failure at that moment–from prepared to scatterbrained in an instant.
Canning meat.
I need help with solar power.
I would like to find information on how to still access water from our “deep well” 685 feet when the electric is out.
I want to learn more about gardening. We have 5 raised beds that do pretty well but lots to learn. Also water purification and storage. Thanks
Solar Oven recipes is where I could use some help.
I’d like to use my pressure canner. I could use some help chasing the fear away!
i need help with ideas of where to store everything!
Definitely inventory and rotation of goods.
Organizing food storage in a small apartment.
Water Storage
I need help on what to gather with a low income. What is most important.
I need to conquer my pressure canner so can preserve low acid foods rather than rely on the freezer.
I want to get a hand pump for our well – then we will still have water if the electricty and city water goes.
Water purification
Water storage & purification… I wish I had a well… and organization isn’t my strong suit either
Everything? Just getting started. So right now, I need to beef up my food and water storage.
Increase Savings. Get a Sun Oven. Get pressure Canner so Mom can have hers back. Tools, and security for the house.
Organization is my weak point.
I need help with rotating home canned food!
I need help in the area of cooking with dehydrated foods. I find recipes on blogs generally have strong flavors in them (too much tomato powder, etc.) So I have to “customize” recipes. And it is discouraging, so I don’t do it :(
I need to learn how to can (pressure and bath). I would also like to learn soapmaking.
Convincing my husband I’m not insane and getting him on board, even the kids are excited to be learning and helping.
How to stay warm in extreme weather with no power.
We need more food stored
Backup power is the main thing we really need to figure out. Right now it’s just a case of ‘crossing our fingers and hoping we don’t suffer a big power outage’.
I love Tattlers! I have a few but would love to have more. Of course a gift card is nice too!
I’ve been spending my summer learning about dehydrating foods and would love to learn more!
I store some bulk goods, as well as home can and garden. However, a large potion of my food storage is mad up of grocery store purchases. It would be nice to see food storeage amount recommendations based on food that most people actually buy and use. It would make planning and rotation so much easier.
I need help with storage space, I am overflowing and splitting seams!
My future goals to learn are raising chicks, harvesting the older chickens and getting a dehydrator to use. Thanks for hosting this, Angela!
I need help with all of it. Freezing, storing… I need help with daily preparedness!
