Food storage bags are made of Mylar. So are those shiny emergency blankets. So can you make a Mylar food storage bag from a Mylar emergency blanket? I know this is a question that has kept you up at night, but you didn’t want to unfold one of those unruly blankets to test it out! Well, just for fun I tested it out for you in this video:

I got excited also. Was wondering I have some old stich witch in my sewing tub, I am wondering if you put that between the edge you iron if that would bond it together? Just a thought !! will need to try this this weekend!

What about mylar balloons? We can buy a mylar balloon around here for a buck and you could fill it with a funnel and then just have a tiny section to close off?

Interesting thought. I doubt they have the food grade plastic lining in them that the Mylar bags for storing food do. I’d just get the Mylar bags made for food storage.
